Allen & Heath SQ7+ Digital Mixer
The Allen & Heath SQ7+ is the largest digital mixer in the SQ+ range, designed for professional audio engineers who require extensive hands-on control for demanding live sound, touring, theatre, broadcast, installation, and recording applications. It combines 48 input channels, a flexible 44-bus architecture, and 33 motorised faders with powerful 96 kHz processing.
At the heart of the SQ7+ is Allen & Heath’s 96 kHz XCVI processing core, delivering high-resolution audio and fast, responsive system performance. Every input channel includes a high-pass filter, gate with sidechain and filter, freely assignable insert point, four-band parametric EQ with RTA, and Peak/RMS compressor. Mix outputs feature parametric EQ, 28-band graphic EQ, and compression as standard.
The mixer features a responsive 9-inch touchscreen with a clear dark graphical interface for fast navigation in different mixing environments. Its 33 × 100 mm motorised faders are arranged across six configurable layers, while 16 assignable SoftKeys and eight SoftRotaries provide immediate access to frequently used functions. Channels and mixes can be placed on any strip using drag-and-drop configuration, with custom naming, colour coding, and chromatic channel metering providing clear visual feedback.
The SQ7+ includes eight RackExtra FX engines, each with a dedicated stereo return, together with four RackUltra FX engines featuring dedicated stereo sends and returns. It also supports Allen & Heath’s DEEP processing add-ons, allowing models of classic analogue processors to be integrated directly into channel and mix strips without adding latency.
An integrated 32 × 32 USB audio interface supports multitrack recording, playback, livestreaming, virtual soundchecks, and DAW control at both 96 kHz and 48 kHz. The built-in SQ-Drive recorder enables direct recording and playback using a USB drive, supporting up to 16 channels at 96 kHz or 32 channels at 48 kHz without requiring a computer.
For system expansion, the SQ7+ features a 128 × 128 Intelligent SLink port, providing access to Allen & Heath’s Everything I/O ecosystem of remote stage boxes, expanders, and compatible consoles. A dedicated expansion slot supports optional Dante, MADI, Waves, and additional SLink interface cards.
Two independent 24-channel Automatic Mic Mixers can operate simultaneously for separate zones or combine into a single 48-channel AMM. This makes the SQ7+ particularly well suited to conferences, panel discussions, broadcast productions, houses of worship, and large corporate events.
Built around a robust all-metal chassis, the SQ7+ is engineered to withstand the demands of touring and permanent installation. Its extensive local I/O, customisable control surface, remote-control applications, and flexible audio networking options make it a powerful central platform for complex professional audio systems.
